
Kieran O’Meara Reflects on 12 Years at Telstra, Discusses His Plans for Bendigo Bank

O’Meara stayed much longer. In February, he called time on a 12-year tenure in senior tech roles at Telstra. This month he started work as Chief Technology Officer at Big 4 challenger, Bendigo Bank.
“I’ve had a huge amount of experience there [at Telstra], lots of learning, lots of great work, lots of fantastic colleagues. But after 12 years, I was looking for…something different that’s going to stretch me in other ways.
“I’ve got bigger ambitions and this opportunity with Bendigo is incredibly interesting,” he says.
Since 2019, the 165-year-old Bendigo Bank has gone from operating 8 different banks to 3, built more adaptive and responsive infrastructure by moving platforms to the cloud and reusing APIs extensively across its consumer and business operations.
