Strategic Business Initiatives Community Interviews Why Do Australian Cios Want to Work With Fewer Vendors? by Byron Connolly Apr 8, 2024 | 3 mins

In late February, ADAPT hosted 150 CIOs and several vendor partners at CIO Edge in Sydney. One key trend emerged across conversations during the event: senior tech buyers want to deal with fewer vendors that are more aligned to their organisation’s objectives.

It’s not surprising that 7 out of every 10 CIOs surveyed at Edge said that they want to cut the number of tech vendors on their books. This cohort of CIOs is seeking, on average, a 16% reduction in suppliers.

CIOs want strategic vendor partners that can go deeper, one stop shops that do change well rather than point solution providers. The below graphic, which was published in August as part of an ADAPT report on effective strategic partnering, explains this further.
