Australian organisations still have significant gaps in the way they respond to cyber incidents.

Around 400 enterprises of all sizes have used MyCISO’s tool to complete cyber risk assessments with incident response topping the list as their biggest weakness, says the company’s CEO, Dane Meah.

“The number one [issue] is incident response. That’s not only one or two controls – it’s often a full suite of different components [related to] incident response whether that is having the appropriate incident response plans, playbooks, tabletop exercises and access to the right skills if you were to have a breach,” he tells ADAPT.

Meah notes that over the years, organisations have shifted their approaches from building bigger, taller walls of defences to prevent breaches, to realising they will get breached and they need incident response plans.
