The AI revolution is beginning to look like another version of “The Hunger Games” with job disappearing across the knowledge economy. As automation accelerates, the dividends earned from these innovations need to be shared across society.

This is the view of Iona Levine, a UK-based lawyer specialising in financial services law and regulation. Levine is a founding member of barristers’ set, Minerva Chambers.

AI is redistributing wealth and forcing people to fight for fewer jobs with roles being swiftly eliminated across the retail, banking and tech sectors. Just last week, Amazon announced it would eliminate 14,000 corporate roles this year as AI adoption becomes more widespread across the organisation.

Levine, who has helped build financial infrastructure in emerging global markets in recent years, argues that the middle class – the doctors, lawyers and artists paying higher tax rates, will be decimated.
