Kurt Brissett On How 3D Modelling is Reshaping Construction from the Ground Up

Construction firms have historically been considered slow movers when it comes to investing in digital initiatives. Australian organisation, Built, is not one of them.

Kurt Brissett, who joined the organisation in April as Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), says the firm understands the value of digital engineering and how it helps derisk projects while making end-to-end supply and procurement systems far more efficient and effective.

“I haven’t necessarily had to sell the value proposition of digital. I’ve got an owner and Board who are fully supportive and are really excited by this space,” he tells ADAPT.

The former tech chief at Transport for NSW, says his first 90 days at Built have focused on identifying where digitisation can have the greatest impact across projects ranging from schools to hospitals and defence infrastructure.

3D models, increasingly augmented by construction-related datasets, are central to the organisation’s builds, he says.
