Some sales execs working at tech vendors are using a particularly unprofessional tactic to secure time with Mission Australia’s Chief Information Officer, Peter Smith.

Meeting requests land in his inbox without any discussion, leaving Smith and his executive assistant (EA) wondering what these appointments are about before they are abruptly rejected.

In some cases, Smith has simply shared his email with the organisers of an event, and they will try to book an unsolicited meeting.

“They do go through my EA sometimes and they will tell her that they have spoken to me and I have agreed to it when that hasn’t happened. That really upsets me,” Smith tells ADAPT.

That’s a real concern because it reflects to their [lack of] integrity. I don’t want to deal with a partner who I am going to potentially invest hundreds…
