Increasing efficiency requires addressing the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders, and the rate of data centre growth over the next few years is drawing the attention of government officials and environmentalists.

Data is used constantly, and we are hesitant to delete it. Currently deployed IT loads are unlikely to be housed in the most energy-efficient data centres. Existing buildings can be made more energy efficient.

With new builds, there are opportunities to design in efficiency (without cost penalty) and energy management that proves efficiency meets the original design. There is a generation of 18-40 years old who will make decisions based on the environment.

In this presentation, Robert Linsdell discusses a methodology for sustainable investments including: transparency, cost effective detailed telemetry, intuitively generated results, define, cost and execute projects to clear stakeholder outcomes and risk, analysis, business case development and proven transparent outcomes.
