Executive Summary
In Q1, 2023, ADAPT conducted 17 in depth, semi-structured interviews with Australian executives. The purpose of the study was to understand how executives are pursuing tech-enabled change and what opportunities exist to pursue these changes more effectively.
This report examines how–with costs rising faster than revenues and a deepening cyber threat landscape–budget to outcome strategies evolving. Two other reports detail the other findings from this study. The first details the support is needed from strategic partners when articulating the business value of technology-enabled change. And the final report reveals how improved corporate, technology and people strategy alignments can drive more valuable change, faster.
Specifically, this report will explore:
- The influence of executives in the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the role of tech in maintaining advantage.
- Outcomes expected by the CEO and Board in the current environment.
- Emphasis, approach and financial value of de-risking technical debt.
- Aligning IT strategy to business outcomes and managing trade-offs.
- Headwinds and tailwinds in driving people, process and tech changes.
The report will expand, with light editing, on these points with the voice of these executives.
